A "Holesome" Smile

"Ow ... ow ...  ow ..."  This is what I have listened to for the last few days.  Aidan's tooth has been loose for about a week and he was hoping that it would stay put until his birthday at the end of the month -- so he could call it a birthday tooth.  But everything he ate or did caused it to hurt.  So today, knowing his birthday is still a couple of weeks away, he changed his mind about saving the sacred first tooth fairy visit for his birthday, and started thinking about how to get the tooth out.

Many suggestions were made:  pliers, string on a door knob, knuckle sandwich -- you know, all the usuals -- but he wasn't interested in any of them.  This afternoon he even ate an apple.  "This will work", I thought, but no, that tooth just didn't want to come out.

Somewhat out of sympathy, we were having soup for supper -- very soft and easy to eat, right?  While everyone was oh-ing and ah-ing over the yummy soup that Dada made, Aidan squeaked, and plucked his tooth out of his mouth.  How do you lose a tooth while eating soup?!  Anyway, he is very pleased and is anxiously awaiting his very first visit from the Tooth Fairy.

What are your family's baby teeth traditions?
